Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
Songwriter: Johnny Marks
From the album: Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer And Other Christmas Classics
The story of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer was written by Robert L. May in 1939 as a promotional gift for the Montgomery Ward department store's customers. It was made into a song by May's brother-in-law, songwriter Johnny Marks, and was first recorded by Gene Autry in 1949. It went on to become the second biggest-selling Christmas song of all time, next to Bing Crosby's "White Christmas."

You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen
Comet, and Cupid, and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say
"Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you'll go down in history"
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say
"Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you'll go down in history"
